Joe’s son Travis was lucky enough to spend a little bit of his day at the shop with us, and then he was lucky enough to get a nice little “tattoo” from his Pops. Joe slapped on a nice Polynesian style piece on his forearm, and in return Trav gave Joe a cool little water dinosaur on his thigh. Looks like the artistic apple really doesn’t fall too far from the tree. The snow day really payed off for Travis.

A few months back a commercial was filmed at the shop for Microsoft. On the day of filming we shut down the shop, as we were jammed pack with the film crew and actors, but seeing the final product makes it worth it. We just found out this morning that the commercial is up and running on YouTube. Go check it out!

While the boss is in the Bay Area (and Jeff in NYC) we have been taking advantage of the freedom to listen to some Wu-Tang. Enter The Wu-Tang 36 Chambers has been in regular rotation, and some of us are more stoked on it than others. One of our shop guys loves The Wu, and had Ross tattoo the late great Ol’ Dirty Bastard a while back. Here it is.

While a couple of the guys are away on business, Joe’s been keeping the shop plenty busy. A couple of tastefully framed animal portraits, and a new polynesian piece are just a few of the things Joe has been working on this week. All of these pieces pictured are fresh off table and done by Joe.
Many people around the world come to us at Art Work Rebels for the quality tattoos that we put out on the regular, that is expected. The icing on the cake though, is the bevy of well groomed men that tirelessly toil in the shop. There’s a couple of great barbers that always treat us right, and we wanna share the secret to all the other gentlemen out there lookin to whip that perm into shape.
On the westside we have Antonio’s Barbershop, located on 1633 NW Glisan and just a few blocks down from us. On the eastside there’s Augustus’s Oak Barbershop, located on 833 Southeast Main Street. Treat yourself right and give these guys a visit.

Scriptwork is just as popular as ever, and the artists here at AWR ain’t no slouches. We always have some walk-ins coming into the shop, and many of those are script pieces. Putting out beautiful, clean script is just as important as the bigger pieces! And for good measure some fresh japanese work, next to a beautiful polynesian piece. All the work pictured done by Joe L.!
It’s almost a sure bet that anytime we’re at the shop at least one of us has our dog with us. Starting from the left.. We have Joe’s dog- Lily. She’s a Hairless Chinese Crested who is always looking fashionable in her sweaters. Lily likes playing with her homie Samson and sitting on laps. Next we have the queen bee of AWR; Jason’s dog Eleanor. This little lady is a Black Labrador that enjoys running alongside Jason’s bike, playing dress up with Lula, & being the center of attention here at the shop. Last, but certainly not least, we have Lily’s good friend Samson the Havanese. He’s the lone guy dog at the shop, so he enjoys Thursdays where you can spot him and Lily partying it up in the drawing area. As said earlier, pretty much anytime we’re here there is a furry friend in the back that wants your attention, so stop on by.
The guys have managed to stay busy through out the winter, and as Spring gets closer; people are getting the itch for more and more tattoos. Lately Mike has been cranking out some jammers, as well as starting some larger projects. Here’s a little preview of what he’s been up to.
All tattoos by Mike V.
Hey y’all, we’ve put up some new pics of the recent work from February on our
Facebook. Give em a good look to see what everyone at the shop’s been up to. We update the albums monthly with fresh pieces, so be sure to keep tabs on it if you just can’t get enough AWR in your life.
