Things are starting to pick up quickly as the spring creep starts to set in on people. There have been plenty of walk-ins to keep every one busy here at the shop. Meanwhile Jason has been busy puttin work down on the steady stream of bigger pieces that he has out in the wild. If you’re itchin to get a little somethin done, come in and see us! Ross Carlson
Ross has been working part time here at the shop for a good while now, and has been brewing up some nice tattoos of both the small & large variety as of late. Ross is here at the shop every Tuesday & Wednesday, and hoping to start some more large projects soon, but also loves to do those little jammers, so if you’re in the market & like his work; give us a call at the shop, email him (sundelin@hotmail.com), or stop by (our personal favorite).

Hard Day’s Work
PDX has always been a hotbed for political activism. Recently AWR bore witness to the epic struggle between the workforce and management of a local business. A picket line was hastily formed at it’s storefront and “the man” was brought to his knees. Joel stands in solidarity with the working people of the world. After a long day of protesting and tattooing, Joel likes to relax in his favorite chair with a little light reading.

Neighborhood Shout Outs
We’re very lucky to be in the neighborhood we are, as we’re surrounded by lots of fun and delicious spots (it’s fair to suspect Jason picked the location with food in mind). Chop is our go to spot for amazing meats & sandwiches, and we strongly suggest their pastrami or porchetta if you’re craving a tasty snack. They recently opened a second location inside the Hub Building on North Williams, and we fully support their delicious expansion.
Another one of the favorite local spots, as well as provider of awesome regulars, is Nemesis Jiu Jitsu. Eric & all the guys at the gym are great dudes, and many of them get tattooed regularly by Jason & the crew. They just moved their gym down to NW 16th Ave, so go check out their new spot.
The hours at the shop can be long, and a few of us need a little pep put back in our step throughout the day, but luckily we have Sterling Coffee right down the street. Seriously some of the best coffee in Portland, and the people there can always be counted on for a good conversation.

This last week the guys all got to do fun tattoos. Jeff P. was able to put this sweet tiger head on a kneecap, Joel got to make a nice chola girl on one of our shop guy’s ankles, and Joe got to start a new Polynesian project. It was a good week indeed for the guys.

Closing Early Today
We will be closing down shop a few hours early tonight for a shop outing. Fortune Tattoo will be joining us for an evening of good food, drinks, and company, so we will be closing at 7PM tonight. Our hours the rest of the week will be the usual.

The Big Reveal
We told you big things were in store for 2012, and we’ve had this under wraps for quite a bit! We’ve had a crew in the shop for quite a bit filming for the next big show in the Ink series. That’s right folks, the crew here at Art Work Rebels will be making their debut on the small screen in the near future, and we want everyone to keep an eye out for the show’s big premier on TLC. Can’t say when it is just yet, but we’ve been given the all clear for the big reveal. You heard it here first folks, Portland Ink is on the way. In the images above you can see all the hustle and bustle we’ve had goin on the shop for a bit.
